After my vent about being too busy last week I decided that SOMETHING had to give. Well, more accurately, Dave decided that something had to give. I had already signed up for a "Dream Dinners" session. Dream Dinners is a company where you go and assemble dinners to put in freezer bags to cook later. What's nice about it is that they do all the prep work for you -- cutting, cleaning, can opening -- and the clean up. It makes for quick dinners at home that aren't fast food or super unhealthy. We've done it once before, but I think it's going to become a regular thing. Also, Dave has decreed that we are getting someone to clean our house twice a month. Yes, we're getting a house cleaner for our 950 square foot condo. But with all our recent traveling, if I do the cleaning on weekends we never spend any time together. So, he convinced me that it's okay to hire someone to help us out.
All of this, as well as some comments to my prior post, has made me think. We all tend to think things "have" to be done a certain way. Whatever that way is. Like I thought I should cook dinner and clean the house all the time no matter what. It seemed like the responsible, good stewardy thing to do. But, really, opening my eyes to a few ways to save time has made life much easier to deal with. And, it will free up my time so I can do Bible studies, service projects, etc. Anyway, I guess I'm trying to say that there is usually more than one "right" way to do something. . . including raising kids and caring for a home.

Update on the house -- my parents didn't get it. I think the sellers are still of the mindset that it's a seller's market. Their house has been on the market since March. I'm thinking it's time to lower their expectations a little. But, my parents are optimistic that they will find something better. I know they will and that God has the perfect house for them.
On another note, I am having a super crazy week at work. I have a status conference in federal court tomorrow, a hearing in Redding on Friday, and a hearing in Fresno next week. That's on top of the six briefs due next week. And, as usual, the floors at home need mopping and we need groceries. This whole deal of working and taking care of a husband/home is hard! I'm starting to think I shouldn't have kids -- that I just can't handle it. Or, maybe I need to change my mind about keeping my job after they're born. But when you spent almost seven years in school and owe an obscene amount in student loans, that option isn't as appealing. Anyone have any thoughts on the whole working mom thing?

My parents arrived in town last weekend to stay for three weeks. They are househunting -- yes, Tweedygirl, househunting -- and have actually found a house here in Roseville just down the street from us. They put a bid on it and we're just waiting to see if the offer is accepted. If not, the hunt continues. I'm so excited to have my parents up here! This is a picture of the house they bid on .

Friday night Dave and I went to a "newcomers" dinner at church. Every couple of months the church has a dinner for all the newer folks so that they can meet each other, get a sense of the church's goals and purpose, and meet the staff and leadership. We had already decided we were settling at this place, but Friday night provided serious confirmation. I can't explain it, I just feel at home. Do you know what I mean? Anyway, I am way excited to start becoming involved and getting to know people. Between finding a church home, and the fact that my parents are moving up here really soon, Roseville is slowly becoming home!
